Who We Are

The council was authorized by Congress in 2001. The RC&D area covers Mariposa County and the foothill and mountain regions of Madera, Fresno and Tulare counties. Issues of primary concern for our area include: water quality and quantity, threat of wildfire, unplanned growth of communities, noxious weeds, high unemployment and underemployment rates.

As outlined in our annual plan , the Council has 3 Areas of Focus:

Resource Conservation

Economic Development

Education/Legislation

The Yosemite/Sequoia RC&D Vision : Comprehensive watershed plans are in place for the seven major watersheds within the Yosemite/Sequoia RC&D area. The plans address social, economic and environmental issues, and as a result, our ecosystems are healthy, and resources are managed for sustainability. Quality of life is high, and residents are employed at “liveable” wage jobs.
