The
Council works extensively with the Forest Service, Tribal governments,
local Fire Safe Councils, and other organizations to further
fire hazard reduction efforts in our area. Here are some examples:
Helped to put the play “ON FIRE!” on for local
residents and visitors. This play dramatically portrays the evolution
of fire suppression and land management issues over the last
100 years, the reasons we are now at serious risk of catastrophic
wildfires, and encourages the audience to get involved in fuels
reduction efforts.
Working with partners to develop, fund and implement
programs to employ local citizens in fire hazard reduction efforts.
Worked with the Hwy 168 Fire Safe Council to revise
the Central Sierra Watershed Committee brochure with information
about fire safety, water conservation, and erosion control; for
distribution to residents in Fresno and Tulare counties.
