Ag/Nature Tourism Workshops 2011

ag-nature

The Council hosted an Agriculture and Nature Tourism Workshop in November 2011 for Fresno and Tulare Counties. This all-day workshop aimed to give ag/nature entrepreneurs the tools they needed to be successful in their endeavors. Additionally, two farm tours took place (one in each County) allowing attendees to see examples of such businesses.

In total 50 entrepreneurs participated in the events as well as 25 speakers, panelist and farm hosts. Attendance was diverse and ranged from seasoned ag/nature business to start-up ideas. Each participant received a workbook that outlined a variety of topics such as; “Considering AgriTourism,” “Coalition Building,” “Navigating Legal Restraints,” “Risk Management,” “Marketing,” and more.

This workbook has been provided electronically on the right. In addition to the workshop attendees were offered free (personal and online assistance) with business planning and development, business readiness assessments, feasibility workbooks, and marketing protocols. Lastly, a consumer education program was launched which encouraged consumers to “Think Local First.”
