The Yosemite/Sequoia RC&D Council is pleased to announce the re-print of 40,000 Welcome to the Foothill booklets. These booklets were developed to provide residence of our foothill communities with a general understanding of; watershed health, water quality, water conservation, native and drought-tolerant plants, noxious weeds and landscaping, oak woodlands preservation, septic care, soil care and conservation, fire hazard reduction, air quality, energy conservation and much more.

This forty-five page booklet has re-printed in four versions each specific to one of the following counties; Madera, Mariposa, Fresno and Tulare. This project was made possible by the Sierra Nevada Conservancy (SNC) – a state agency created by bi-partisan legislation and signed into law in 2004. The SNC was created with the understanding that the environmental, economic and social well-being of the Sierra Nevada and its communities are closely linked and that the Region would benefit from an organization proving a strategic direction. Before reprinting the Council and its partners went through and updated all resource links in the booklets.

Additionally, a new tribal component was created in order to inform readers about the history and culture of the land where they reside. These booklets have been distributed to a variety of outlets across the region including; Chamber of Commerce’s, Board of Realtors, Resource Conservation Districts, Fire Safe Councils, Libraries, Board of Supervisors, United States Forest Service, Natural Resources Conservation Services, Fish and Game and many more. Please view the book(s) by clicking the links below. The Council would like to thank all of its partners and supporters for their assistance with this project.
